The Call For Adventure
Luxury Retreat in Talpe Sri Lanka
February 16th – 23rd 2019
A seven day winter escape to an exotic paradise.
Sri Lanka is a beauty to behold and an incredible destination for a yoga retreat. Rich in culture, a wealth of wildlife and an abundance of incredible natural beauty.
January – March is a beautiful time to be in the central hills or on the southern coast, as days are sunny and dry and the sea is usually calm.
The Sri Devi Retreat Centre opens its doors and its heart, to welcome us, on what will be, a once in a lifetime experience for some.
A luxury resort, with seven spacious villas, a spa and a 60 foot swimming pool, surrounded by mango trees and exotic flowers. A private outdoor Yoga Shala, as well as an indoor and an outdoor covered lounging area.
The centre is located on the edge of a former paddy field, which nature has transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, with water buffalos and a wide variety of birds. Hidden away and overlooking lush green paddy fields, perfect for relaxation, against the backdrop of traditional Sri Lankan village life, with nothing to disturb you but a soft breeze, the sounds of nature, or the occasional chanting of monks in the distance.
This luxury retreat, is a collaboration between myself and Ali Gilling, a very dear friend and heart sister. Our friendship spans over twenty years and our yoga paths have entwined for as long. Between us, we have over forty years of yoga teaching experience!
We are both feeling incredibly blessed to be able offer this retreat together and to offering you, the yoga guest, a wealth of wisdom and love, through authentic, heartfelt teaching and guidance.
Ali is a well seasoned traveller and has been to Sri Lanka many times and in fact, has been the inspiration behind the Sri Devi Villas opening up to Yoga guests.
It is our intention to offer you an unforgettable experience. A sun filled adventure, incredibly nourishing yoga, fine vegetarian cuisine, Ayurvedic treatments and a deep inner journey back to your heart and all in Sri Lanka!!!
There will be two practice sessions a day, including Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Mindfulness and Meditation. Each day will begin with a morning Sadhana (spiritual practice of mediation, pranayama and or Kriya and chanting) for those early risers, followed by a dynamic yet meditative Hatha flow yoga practice.
After the morning session, there is an abundance of fruits and a healthy and filling breakfast. There will be several hours in the day to relax and unwind, whether it be to walk to the nearby white sandy beaches, have a treatment from our in house ayuvedic masseuse, take a ride into the nearby shops, cafes and restaurants on the beach or simply chill by the pool.
We will meet again in the late afternoon for a gentle practice, dedicated to nourishing yourself, including restorative postures, meditation, visualisations and yoga Nidra.
The Villas are luxurious, clean and spacious, with traditional Sri Lankan elements and beautiful colonial furniture. Each villa offers twin beds and a large bathroom. A fridge and bar/counter with sink, tea/coffee making facilities and a walk in closet and safe. Indoor and outdoor showers and private sun terraces with magnificent views. There is attention to detail in every villa to ensure your ultimate comfort.
Breakfast and 5 dinners are included in the cost of the retreat and will be prepared in traditional Sri Lankan style using organic and locally sourced ingredients.
The resort has a fantastic organic garden, where they grow their own vegetables, fruits and herbs.
In addition there is a fully equipped and staffed kitchen, and for no additional cost the staff can prepare your own food for you.
